Shimla, November 29, 2016: With a view to strengthen the emergency services, the State Government has taken a decision to establish emergency wards in Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital, Shimla and Dr.Rajendra Prasad Government Medical College Tanda which are the premier health institutes of the State.
This was stated by Health Minister Shri Kaul Singh Thakur while presiding over the governing body meeting of Rogi Kalyan Samiti (RKS) of IGMC Shimla today. He said a trauma centre would be established in the coming up OPD building of IGMC so that immediate treatment could be ensured in accidental cases. Moreover, water ATMs would also be installed in IGMC and Kamla Nehru Hospital, Shimla to facilitate the patients and their attendants.
The Minister directed the hospital administration to send the proposal to the State Government for filling up of vacant posts of different categories and for absorbing the outsource employees into RKS. He said that the State Government would provide a sum of Rs. 552.50 lakh to RKS as grant in aid and Rs. 17.45 lakh would be provided by State and Union Governments for various schemes.
The approval was given during the meeting for the annual budget of 2016-17 which include estimated receipts to the tune of Rs. 4330 lakh and expenditure of Rs. 4580 lakh. He said that Rs. 3961.92 lakh were spent on various heads by RKS, IGMC Shimla and its associated hospitals for providing better health care facilities to the patients during last fiscal.
MLA Shri Suresh Bhardwaj and Mayor Shri Sanjay Chauhan also gave their valuable suggestions for bringing further improvement in functioning of RKS.
Principal Secretary, Health Shri Prabodh Saxena, Principal, IGMC Dr. Ashok Sharma, other senior doctors and members of RKS attended the meeting.
