Ludhiana, September 5, 2018: Additional District Election Officer-cum-Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development) Dr Shena Aggarwal today said that for strengthening our democracy, it is necessary that every person above the age of 18 years should exercise his/her right to vote. And this is possible only if every eligible person is registered as a voter. Dr Aggarwal said this while addressing the district level SVEEP Core Committee meeting here today.

While chairing this meeting at Bachat Bhawan, here, Dr Shena Aggarwal urged all the members to make maximum number of youth aware about getting themselves registered as voters. She said that special functions should also be organised for this purpose. On this occasion, the working of campus ambassadors, nodal officers of colleges and NGO’s was also discussed. The officials from the District Education Office were directed to organise poster making, essay writing and other such competitions in schools so that maximum number of people can be made aware.

She informed that the revision of photo electoral rolls and for receiving claims and objections, a special campaign is being already run by the District Election Office, Ludhiana that would continue till October 31, 2018. Besides, the Booth Level Officers (BLO’s) would be organising special camps on their respective polling booths on September 9, 2018 and September 16, 2018 (both Sundays).

She informed that the main aim of this drive is that the photo electoral rolls are thoroughly revised. She said that in case of any objections, the voters can submit their forms at the offices of their respective BLO’s or Electoral Registration Officers by October 31, 2018.

Dr Aggarwal said that any person, who attains the age of 18 years or more on January 1, 2019, can fill the forms to get their names included in the electoral rolls. She further informed that the voter should fill form number 6 for including his name in electoral rolls, the voter can get it deleted by filling in form number 7, if any voter wants to make any correction, they can fill form number 8 and to get the vote transferred to some other address, form number 8 A can be filled.

She further informed that the forms can also be filled online at National Voter Services Portal www.nvsp.in. She informed that the electoral rolls can be checked online by visiting the website of Chief Election Officer Punjab, www.ceopunjab.nic.in and details related to a voter’s election area, polling station, Electoral Registration Officer or BLO can be checked by visiting www.nvsp.in.

She said that any other person who has not yet made his vote, should fill form number 6 before October 31, 2018 and submit it with the office of their respective Electoral Registration Officer or can fill it online at www.nvsp.in.
