Ludhiana, September 17, 2018: Dr Shena Aggarwal, ADC (D) cum Additional District Electoral Officer, Ludhiana, has informed that three senior government officers have been appointed as election observers for the Zila Parishad and Panchayat Samiti elections scheduled for September 19, 2018.

While providing further information, she informed that any person/candidate having any grievance regarding elections can contact the election observers or their liaison officers. She further said that the office of all these election observers have been set up at Circuit House, Ludhiana.

Mr TPS Phoolka, IAS, has been appointed as Election Observer for Dehlon, Ludhiana-2, Malaudh and Pakhowal, Mr Gurlovleen Singh, IAS has been appointed as Election Observer for Doraha, Khanna, Machhiwara and Samrala, while Mr Dalwinderjit Singh, PCS, has been appointed as Election Observer for Jagraon, Ludhiana-1, Raikot, Sidhwan Bet and Sudhar.

The Liaison Officer for Mr TPS Phoolka is Tanul Goyal, ETO, Ludhiana (phone number 90417-41171), liaison officer for Mr Gurlovleen Singh is Harpreet Singh, ETO, Ludhiana (phone number 75088-92016) and the liaison officer for Mr Dalwinderjit Singh is Mr Bhagwinder Singh Tuli, XEN, PWD (B&R) (phone number 98729-75588).

Dr Shena Aggarwal further informed that after the withdrawal of nominations, now 68 candidates have been left in fray, while for Panchayat Samiti Dehlon, 30 candidates, for Doraha 39 candidates, for Jagraon 64 candidates, for Khanna 33 candidates, for Ludhiana-1 62 candidates, for Ludhiana-2 62 candidates, for Machhiwara 31 candidates, for Malaud 38 candidates, for Pakhowal 34 candidates, for Raikot 27 candidates, for Samrala 31 candidates, for Sidhwan Bet 35 candidates and for Sudhar 47 candidates have been left in fray.

Dr Shena Aggarwal informed that the polling would be held from 8 am to 4 pm on September 19, 2018 and the counting of votes would be done on September 22, 2018.

Dr Shena Aggarwal further informed that about 11,61,000 voters would exercise their right to franchise at 1542 Polling Stations all over the district. Deputy Commissioner cum District Electoral Officer Ludhiana, Mr Pardeep Kumar Agrawal has directed Police Department to make elaborate security arrangements for free and fair elections. Representatives of all recognised Political Parties have already been briefed about the upcoming elections and the arrangements being made for them by ADC (D) cum Additional District Electoral Officer, Dr. Shena Aggarwal and their cooperation was sought for successful conduct of elections.

She said that all the necessary arrangements like ballot boxes, election material, strong rooms for secure storage of ballot boxes till counting and counting centres have been made by the district administration.
