Ek Prayaas students participate in 17th special Olympics Bharat, Punjab Chapter

Ludhiana, November 19, 2014: Children of Ek Prayaas, a school for children with special needs, exhibit their talent at three-day 17th Special Olympics Bharat, Punjab Chapter, held in Hoshiarpur from November 14-16, where differently able children from all over Punjab participated. It was a unique experience of its kind for these special children who got an opportunity to move out of the premises of their home and show their talent to the outside world.
The students participated in different events like 25 meters, 50 meters and 100 meters race; 25 meters, 100 meters and 400 meters walk and shot put. Jatin made the school proud by winning gold medal in 50 meters and silver medal in 25 meters race. Krishna won gold medal in 100 meters race and bronze in shot put. Nitin bagged gold in 50 mtrs race and bronze medal in 25 meters race. Paramveer bagged one silver and one bronze in 100 meters race and 400 meters walk respectively. Gagan won a bronze in 25 mtrs walk. Dr. Menka Rajput, Physiotherapist and Kiranjit Kaur, sports teacher of the institute were very delighted on the success of the students.
The students and their family members were very thrilled on their achievements. The family members were all praised for the institute which was taking such great effort to encourage student participation in all fields.
Samira Bector, President, Social Action group while appreciating the efforts of the children and the staff said “We are very proud of our children and we will make sure that they are able to participate more in such events in the future. Such events not only provide an opportunity to such children to exhibit their talent but also boost their morale and make them more confident to face the outside world.
