EEPC discussed about future of bicycle industry

Ludhiana: A Meeting of bicycle & bicycle parts manufacturers held under the Chairmanship of Shri Pardeep Aggarwal Chairman Bicycle Panel EEPC India (Engineering Exports Promotion Council of India) along with Shri Rakesh Suraj Regional Director EEPC India. The detailed discussion was held on the measures to accelerate the exports of bicycles & bicycle parts to the world.
In recent studies, it has been observed that the Growth in the Exports of bicycles is only 6%, whereas the growth in the imports of bicycles is 16%; this trend has been continued and grown, the under noted points were discussed for increasing the exports of the bicycles:
 
1.      Bicycle Lanes
This is in reference to our Honorable Prime Minister Narinder Modi’s Vision of ‘Why not celebrate Sunday as a Cycle Day’. Today cycle is not only a poor man’s conveyance, but also a modern day’s fitness mantra. There is a need to introduce the cycling tracks in Punjab as well as in whole India. The introduction of cycling tracks would not only make cycling safer, but also help making our environment pollution free.
 
2.      Parking areas
There should be ample of parking spaces available for the bicycles especially in the city, this will encourage more and more people to use the bicycles, and hence make the environment cleaner.
 
3.      Safety of bicyclist on roads
Safety of the cyclist is another area highly focused, there are various safety kits available for the rider, along with the bicycles with better braking & reflectivity. The introduction of the GPS System in high-end bicycles along with the more reflectivity of the cycle.
 
4.      Bicycle Library
It has been observed that there is a huge need of the bicycles libraries so that the people can hire a bicycle from a point, use it for the commutation till the point their destination point, and drop the cycle the nearest available library.
 
5.      e-Bikes to be considered in bicycles
Members would like to deliberate if there should a request made to Indian Government to include e-Bikes with pedals should be considered as bicycle.
 
6.      Technology:
The World doesn’t want the low-grade MS Steel bicycles, the Europeans & Americans wants the light weighted high end bicycles with Aluminum Alloy/ Carbon Steel/ Titanium frames forks, oil & air-controlled suspension assembly with Disk Breaks & Quick release seat post with Gel saddles, Painted sheets to Manufacturer Mudguards & safety reflectors etc.
 
7.      Exhibitions for Marketing:
There are the exhibitions on the high-end bicycles like EUROBIKE 2020, Taipei Show 2020, Interbike 2020, IESS 2021 which are highly recommended for the industrialists so that they can see the global trends and upscale themselves technologically.
