Educational Council takes out a Green Nagar Kirtan

Ludhiana, November 5, 2014: To commemorate the birth anniversary of Sri Guru Nanak Dev, Ramgarhia Educational Council, Miller Ganj, Ludhiana, took out a Green Nagar Kirtan in collaboration with EcoSikh, Young Flares, VMAD on Tuesday.

The procession aimed at encouraging eco-friendly celebrations of Gurpurabs and sensitizing people about the value of keeping our environment clean and green. In order to minimize the Styrofoam garbage, the sadh sangat only used steel or other re-usable cutlery for langar. People were also discouraged from bursting crackers during the celebrations. All the Singh Sabhas, Sewa Societies, Women Satsang Sabhas, Sri Sukhmani Sahib Sewa Societies, Religious and Political organisations of the city, members of Youth Wing Scholars, Advocates, Doctors, Nihang Singhs, Students from Ramgarhia Educational Institutions, Dashmesh Sr. Sec. School, Gurmat Colleges and Schools took part in it.

The Nagar Kirtan was led by the Panj Pyaras (Five Beloveds) under the patronage of “Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji.” The holy procession started from Ramgarhia Gurudwara Sahib and passing through Vishkarma Chowk, it covered Gill Road and its adjoining areas and came back to Gurudwara Sahib. The routes were beautifully decorated by the Sangat and the provision of ‘Langar’ was made at several places.

Ranjodh Singh, President, Jagtar Singh, General Secretary and the other members of Ramgarhia Educational Council presented ‘Siropao’ to all the organisations and the Nagar Kirtan culminated successfully. All the executive members of the council were also present on the occasion.

The event was also marked by the presence of Dr Narinder Sandhu, Principal, Ramgarhia Girls College, Kamaljeet Kaur Kalsi, Principal, Ramgarhia Sr. Sec. Girls School, Ashok Kumar Tandon, Principal, Ramgarhia Sr. Sec. Boys School and Balwinder Kaur, Principal, Ramgarhia Elementary School.
