E-content development for MOOCs workshop at PU
Chandigarh, November 8, 2019: Prof.Jatinder Grover, CALEM Coordinator, Panjab University, and Dr.Vishal Sharma, SWAYAM Coordinator PU, introduced the theme and topics to the participants attending seven days workshop on designing and development of the Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs).
The workshop is being organised by the Centre of Academic Leadership and Education Management (CALEM) and Swayam Cell, Panjab University, Chandigarh.
The day four of workshop was devoted to the e-content development at ETV Studio at NITTTR, Chandigarh. The Instructional design and creating effective learning experiences by Mr. Girish Gurjar from IIM, Banglore were discussed. The rest of the sessions were dedicated to the practical aspects of video production and editing of the e-content in the ETV studio. Prof. Maitreyee Dutta coordinated the practical sessions. The technical team consisting of Savita Bhanot (STA, ETV), Anurag Soni (Cameraman), Jagir Singh, Baljeet, Monika Arora, Harjot Pal Singh, G.B. Pandey handled the studio production and post production sessions. The participants were shown the e-content developed in the studio after post production or final editing was done. The discussion and feedback session between the participants and the technical team culminated in the practical session at NITTTR, Chandigarh.
The day five was devoted to the understanding of learner-centric MOOC model by Dr. Vineeta Shah from IIT, Mumbai. She explained in detail the concept and intricacies of Learning by doing (LeD) and Learning Extension Trajectories (LxT) with the help of group activities and multimedia presentations. LxT enables the learner to increase the depth of their knowledge which usually supported by the assimilation quiz. The Learning Experience Interactions (LxI) in which learners interact via discussion forums were also discussed in detail.
Prof. Rajat Sandhir discussed the issues of Plagiarism in the MOOCs in the last academic session. He emphasized that the proper referencing and citation of the original sources from where the educational content was shared or used for developing the MOOCs is imperative.
NATIONAL MEDIATION AND NEGOTIATION COMPETITION AT UILS
Chandigarh, November 8, 2019: The 2 day event of second edition of ‘Justice A. S. Anand Mediation and Negotiation Competition, 2019’, commenced here today by University Institute of Legal Studies, Panjab University, Chandigarh The competition is being organised by the Alternate Dispute Resolution (ADR) and Client Counselling (CCL) Board, UILS, under the guidance of their Director, Prof. Rattan Singh, and their faculty coordinator, Dr. Shruti Bedi. The Department hosted twenty-four teams from various colleges all over the country, including NLSUI Bangalore, V M Salagaocar Goa, NALSAR Hyderabad, Government Law College Mumbai, to name a few. The event began with an inaugural ceremony in which Senior Advocate Rita Kohli, along with Prof. Rattan Singh, Director, UILS and Dr. Shruti Bedi, Faculty Coordinator, ADR & CCL Board, UILS, addressed the gathering about the rise of the concept of mediation in the legal sphere.
The participants were given a comprehensive rundown of the format of the competition.
The teams comprised of three participants each, playing the role of Mediator, Counsel and Client. The twenty- four teams went head- to- head over two preliminary rounds that were adjudged by trained mediators from the Mediation Centre, Punjab and Haryana High Court, as well as the UILS Alumni and former members of the Board. The propositions for both the rounds were well conceived by the participants and opened up a wide ambit for negotiation on the table.
The ‘Top 8’ teams qualified for the Quarter Finals. These were adjudged by trained mediators as well as eminent advocates from the Punjab and Haryana High Court. This was a knockout round, and the ‘Top 4’ teams entred the Semi Finals, which will take place on Saturday, where these teams will compete for the coveted finals.
550TH BIRTH ANNIVERSARY OF SHRI GURU NANAK DEV CELEBRATED AT PU
Chandigarh, November 8, 2019: The Department of Center for Systems Biology and Bioinformatics, Panjab University celebrated the the 550th birth anniversary of Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji by the recital of Anand Sahib Path, reading of the holy book of the Sikhs, Guru Granth Sahib. It was followed by commemorating the life of Guru Nanak Dev Ji which was followed by the melodious recital of Shabad Gurbani by the students of the Department various Shloks signifying various teachings of Guru Nanak Dev Ji were also shared at the forum highlighting the importance of women in the society.
The Department of Library and Information Science, Panjab University also organized a Special Lecture on the occasion by Dr. Amardeep Kaur, Assistant Professor in MCM DAV, College Chandigarh on ‘Life, Philosophy and Teachings of Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji’.
