"During my childhood, my mom, dad, brother and sister used to ride together on the Yezdi bike”

Ankita Sharma speaks about her ‘Beechwale’ moment and more Q: Tell us about your character in Sony SAB’s Beechwale – Bapu Dekh Raha Hai. Ankita: My character’s name in Beechwale is Sheetal, who is very bubbly and status conscious. She looks for ‘class’ in every single thing. For instance, if she goes to visit someone, she will judge them on the basis of crockery they use to serve food or the brand of soap used in their house. At the same time, she is fun-loving and very romantic with her husband. Q: How has your experience shooting for Beechwale been? Ankita: This is my first show with Sony SAB. I have had a lot of fun being part of different genres of daily soaps, but while shooting for Beechwale, I realized that there is a different kind of fun in doing comedy shows. You are not mentally exhausted even after 12 -13 hours of shoot. There is a spark inside you that motivates you to go for shoot the next day. Otherwise, when I did daily soaps filled with ‘Saas Bahu’ drama, my mind used to get exhausted by the time I used to reach my place. I used to feel drained. Q: How is Beechwale different from other daily soaps? Ankita: Beechwale is different from other shows because it is a light hearted show, and there is no extra drama or problems. Even if we are fighting, it is like how a normal family would fight. There is love and there are fights sans politics. It is a simple, light-hearted show that any character can easily relate to. Q: Tell us about one Beechwala issue that you might have faced in your life. Ankita: There are a lot of issues. Something or the other keeps happening. Imagine a middle class family – there are five people and one scooter. I remember, during my childhood, the five of us including my mom, dad, brother and sister used to ride together on the Yezdi bike. I used to sit in front, my sister in the middle and my brother used to sit in my mother’s lap. Q: Tell us something about your growing up years and how was your experience shooting in Delhi. Ankita: I have lived in Mumbai for 8 years now. Before that, I lived in Delhi, so there are many things I miss there, especially the food. My father had a government job. There were these small moments, like our list of things to buy would be ready before him even getting his Diwali Bonus. I feel only the ‘Beechwale’ can enjoy such moments because only a ‘Beechwala’ person belonging to the middle class can understand the happiness of getting something when it is not expected. I enjoyed shooting in Delhi, firstly because I was staying with my family and I got to spend ample time with them. Secondly, after so many years, I got the opportunity to shoot in Chandni Chowk and Karol Bagh. Gorging on delicacies like Chole Kulche and Falooda while shooting was a lot a fun. I am a foodie and still roam in Kamla Nagar and Bungalow Road for street shopping. In fact, I used to go for shopping with Ananya Khare to Janpath on a daily basis after shooting in the city.
