Dubai’s noted businessman and philanthropist SP Singh Oberoi visits Juvenile Home; gives tips to inmates

Ludhiana, January 6, 2014: Sarbat Da Bhala Charitable Trust under the patronisation of Dubai’s noted businessman and philanthropist SP Singh Oberoi has handed over to the administration of local Juvenile Home, two computers, printer, RO of 50 liters capacity, 75 quilts, 75 complete beds, blankets, sweaters and other woollen for inmates in Juvenile Home in the Shimlapuri Area here.

Oberoi on behalf of the Trust also assured to make available one and a half quintals of wheat flour every month to the Juvenile Home.

On the occasion, Oberoi gave certain tips of becoming a good citizen to the jail inmates. He asked them to give a new direction to their life after their release from Juvenile Home. He suggested them to think for the future instead of feeling a repent for the past misdeeds. He assured to the administration of Juvenile Home that he would always be ready for all kind of assistance in the future too.

Speaking on the occasion, Retired Commissioner SK Ahluwalia said the prevailing menace of drugs in Punjab was a major challenge today. He said there was a need that all the social organisation working for the society should come at a single platform, so that a check should be made on the menace of drugs in the state. He asked children to get away from menace of drugs and concentrate on their studies for making their future bright.

In his address, DSP Prithipal Singh Khanna lauded the efforts of Oberoi in getting released several people, especially Punjabis, lodged in a case of murder in Dubai. He said there were rare personalities such as  Oberoi across the world.

On behalf of the Trust, the District President Jaswant Singh Chhapa, ETO Maninder Singh, District Social Welfare Officer Inderpreet Kaur Malhotra, SP Singh Oberoi and Retired Commissioner SK Ahluwalia were honoured on the occasion.
