Students participate in the 5 day Inspire Internship Camp-2015 at Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya, Jalandhar on Tuesday.  

Jalandhar, January 6, 2015: The 5 day Inspire Internship Camp-2015 was inaugurated in the campus of Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya, today.  This 5 day camp is sponsored by department of Science & Technology, Govt of India.  The meritorious students pursuing science in +1 and +2 of different schools are taking part in this camp.  In the inauguration ceremony, Dr Udai Maitra from Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore was the resource person.  Principal Dr Rekha Kalia Bhardwaj welcomed him with a bouquet of flowers and said that positivity and research oriented minds are need of the hour.  Science is such a field which can take us to newer heights.  Head of Physics Department Renuka Bhatti told about college & its activities.  Inspire camp co-ordinator Harpreet Singh said that this camp is a lifelong experience for students.  Students will be having a scientific temperament for these 5 days.
Resource person for the inaugural session Dr Udai Maitra said that “Chemistry is Fun”.  He said that chemistry is central, useful and creative.  Chemistry is increasing interface with biology and materials science.  He also said that even magicians use simple experiments of chemistry in their magic shows to attract the audience.
In the post lunch sessions, students were provided hands on practicals in various science labs.  Dr. Jaswinder Singh from Patiala performed various experiments of physics for students.  He is winner of various State & National awards and is famous for his mobile experiment Manza Van.  Students also performed various experiments of Botany, Zoology, Chemistry, Biotechnology & Bioinformatics.  In the evening session, Dr. P.V. Bhartam from NIPER, Mohali gave his lecture on “Informatics in Chemistry and Biology”.
In this camp more than 150 students participated.  Students from DAV Sr. Sec. School Malerkotla, DAV BRS Nagar Ludhiana, DAV Public School Bilga, DMS Jalandhar, Shiv Jyoti Public School, Lala Jagat Narayan Model School, Innocent Hearts, RMB DAV School Nawashahar’, DAV Pakhowal, Police DAV School, DAV Ludhiana, DIPS Suranussi & Begowal, Modern Sandeepani School, Pathankot, Govt. Girls School, Nehru Garden, Govt. Girls School Garhshankar, Adarsh Sr. Sec. School Tarn Taran, KV Suranussi, DAV Nakodar & State Public School Nakodar participated in this camp.  On this occasion, camp coordinator Harpreet Singh, Dean Academics Meenakshi Syal, Head of Physics Department Renuka Bhatti, Dr. Meena Sharma, Dr. Mani Sharma and all the teachers of science department were present.  This camp will continue till January 10.
