Ludhiana, December 5, 2019: The Chrysanthemum Show concluded at Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) yesterday. It received a huge response from flower lovers, hobbyist and flower growers.
The event was jointly organized by the Department of Floriculture and Landscaping and the Estate Organization, PAU. A competition among 14 different classes of chrysanthemum was held during the show among different schools, colleges and other institutions. A total of 40 prizes comprising 13 first, 14 second and 12 third were given to the winners.
Dr Jaskaran Singh Mahal, Director of Extension Education, PAU, was the chief guest at the prize distribution ceremony. He explained the role of PAU in the upliftment of agriculture and the role of horticulture in diversification in Punjab and at the national level.
Dr Mahal observed that demand for flowers was high in the cities, particularly, in the festival seasons. The growers can adopt floriculture as a profitable venture, he advised. Later, he awarded prizes to the winners.
Dr Kiranjeet Kaur Dhatt, Head of the department, while proposing the vote of thanks, invited the public to participate in the Annual Flower Show to be held in February 2020.
