Dharamshala, September 13, 2019: In a major achievement a post graduate student from the Department of Dermatology of Dr RP Government Medical College Tanda, Dr Dhaarna Wadha, has brought laurels to the institute and the state of Himachal Pradesh.
This was stated by Dr.Bhanu Awasthi, Principal Dr.RP Government Medical

Dr Dhaarna Wadha, has been awarded first prize for her thesis titled “Malondialdehyde, lipoprotein-a, lipoprotein ratios, comprehensive lipid tetrad index and atherogenic index as surrogate markers for cardiovascular disease in patients with psoriasis: a case–control study” by Indian Association of Dermatology, Venereology & Leprology (IADVL) as per Dr. Awasthi.
“Dr Dhaarna was felicitated during 7 th National Conference of IADVL (Mid-Dermacon 2019) held at Patna (Bihar) recently. She had carried out her thesis under the guidance of Prof & Head of skin department Dr Vikram Mahajan. Her work was selected among 14 thesis submitted from all over India. According to her study the levels of malondialdehyde, lipoprotein-a, lipoprotein ratios, comprehensive lipid tetrad index and atherogenic index, the surrogate indicators of enhanced cardiovascular risk, were found quantitatively increased in patients with psoriasis which is currently recognized immune-mediated inflammatory dermatosis with increased risk for metabolic syndrome and cardiovascular disease”, said Dr Awasthi.
“Screening and appropriate treatment of dyslipedmia or other co-morbidities will improve quality of life in patients with psoriasis,” she opined.
