Hyderabad, November 16, 2016: Don Bosco Society, a home for street involved children and young at risk completes 25 years in the service of the poor and abandoned and celebrates Silver Jubilee.

Don Bosco’s Society (A Catholic Christian Society) was established in 1854 in Italy. Now it had spread over to 135 countries. It has 3315 schools, 75 colleges and universities, 90 health centers, 340 orphanages and 1.2crore past students.

The Mission of Don Bosco’s is to take care of the poor and abandoned children besides education and youth development.

The Don Bosco’s province of Hyderabad was established in 1992 comprising of the states of Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and South Odisha. This year we are celebrating the silver jubilee of the birth of our Province.

To mark the occasion and celebrate the same a function was organised here in city today at Ramanthapur.

Fr. Angel Artime Fernandez , Rector Major from Rome, the President of the Don Bosco’s Institutions across the World graced the occasion.

Film star Mr. Nikhil the fame of “Swamy Raa Raa”, “Karthikeya”, “Surya Vs Surya” was the Chief Guest

Ms. Nithya Naresh, fame of “Kerintha” and Ms. Manali Rathod, a brilliantly talented actress and Fr. Thathi Reddy Vijaya Bhaskar, Provincial of Hyderabad Province

700 street children were also be present on the occasion.

The Jubilee celebrations are spaced out in three places and will be celebrated at Ramanthapur, Guntur and Hyderabad.

Don Bosco’s Society in the last 25years has taken care of One Lakh Street Children in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. It has 8 street children institutes in both Telugu States.

The uniqueness of its education system of Don Bosco’s School which is acclaimed as preventive system based on the principles of reason, kindness and faith. Don Bosco’s aim is to impart every young person into honest and responsible citizen.

Don Bosco’s Followers entered India in the year 1906 at Tanjore, Tamil Nadu and further they entered into the Telugu Land in 1964. Since then, through various schools, colleges, technical schools, works for Street Children, Youth Centers etc., Don Bosco’s has given values for life and skills for employment to scores of young people. Thrugh these activities, Don Bosco’s became aline in the lives of numerous poor and abandoned boys.

In the last 25 years, through 8 Street Children Institutes, the Don Bosco’s has brought up approximately 1 Lakh Street Children. At present Do Bosco has 55 various institutes comprising of Technical, Educational - School Education, College education etc in Telangana & Andhra Pradesh. Don Bosco’s have about 115 Catholic Priests who are running all these institutions in Telangana & Andhra Pradesh.
