Jalandhar, February 18, 2013: The all breed championship 'Dog Show' by the Kohinoor Kennel Club, Jalandhar(affiliated to the Cannel Club of India Chennai), held at the grain market here on Sunday.

The event was organised in the memory of Late Iqbal Singh Dhillon, ex-MP.

Mario Magsavsay from Phillipines and Shyam Mehta from India were the judges.

The show was inaugurated by Pargat Singh (MLA), guest of honour were Gurcharan Singh Channi, Chairman, District Planning Board, Jalandhar and Mohinder Bhagat, Vice President, Bhartiya Janata Party, Punjab and the prizes in the shape of shield and certificates to the owners of the dogs were distributed by Bhagat Chuni Lal,  Local Bodies Minister, Punjab.

Over 250 dogs of different breeds of 1 to 100 kg weight participated in the dog show. Few of them were very costly, say in lakhs, starting from Rs 10,000 onward, which shows the passion and interest for dogs. Mostly the imported dogs remained the source of attraction.

Interestingly, the participants paraded their pets in two different rings, a large number of dog breeders who had come from Delhi, Rajasthan, Punjab, Bengal, Haryana, Gujrat, England and across India were observed to be more interested in selling their adult dogs or pups at a price ranging between Rs 5,000 and 10,000.

German Shepherd Dog owned by Harcharan Singh of Patiala was adjudged first.

The Great Den dog, owned by Sanjai Kapoor  of Gujarat was placed second.

Rotwiller Dog owned by Kulmeet Dankar from Haryana bagged third position.

Chuni Lal Bhagat announced a sum o f Rs 2 lakh for the Kennel Club.
