Doaba College lifts overall trophy of CT ‘Fest-o-Media’
Jalandhar, March 27, 2019: The Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, CT Institute of Higher Studies organized its second media festival titled ‘Fest-o-Media’ at CT Group of Institutions, Shahpur campus. More than 400 students from 21 colleges and Universities participated in the fest. The Chief Guest for the event remained Nishant Kumar, renowned media professional and Features Editor of a National English Daily from Chandigarh. Giving students a different exposure, 15 events were organized like News Reading, Live Sanchaar (Radio Jockey), Factual Story, Ad Mad, Selfie Squad, Choreography, News Reading and Walk The Talk etc. Students from different colleges and Universities like Chitkara University, GNDU Regional Campus, Ladewali, DAV College, Jalandhar, Doaba College, CT University and Lyallpur Khalsa College etc competed with each other. The Overall trophy went to Doaba College, Jalandhar whereas DAV College Jalandhar bagged the Runners-Up Trophy. The fest started with the lighting of lamp ceremony by Chairman CT Group, Charanjit S Channi, Managing Director Manbir Singh, Vice Chairman Harpreet Singh, Principal CTIHS, Dr. Seema Arora, Vishal Gotra, Assistant Professor. The welcome address was delivered by Dean Academics Anupam Deep Sharma. For all the events, different judges who have good professional experience adjudged the events. The list of jury for various events included the names of Naresh Arora, Avneet, RJ Bindas Vikas, RJ Himanshu, Navjot Kaur, Shaina Kochar, Paramjit Rangpuri, Gaggun Bedi and Taran Sachdeva etc. After the tough competition between the participants, the judges announced the results of various events. The first and second prizes of News Reading were bagged by Doaba College, Layallpur khalsa College respectively. The first and second prizes for Ad Mad show went to Doaba College , GNDU Regional Campus, Ladewali Whereas, under the Choreography event, the first and second prizes went to DAV College Jallandhar, Chitkara University, Walk The Talk DAV College Jalandhar bagged first prize and second prize goes to Doaba college. CTU won the first trophy for Nukkad Natak whereas DAV university bagged the second prize. Manbir Singh, Managing Director, CT Group said, “This is the second year of this festival and it’s the real exposure that every media student should experience. This will surely boost the morale of students while competing with each other and testing their hidden skills too.” Chairman CT Group Charanjit S Channi applauded the efforts taken by the department in organizing this wonderful event for the second time and congratulated all the winners and participants for taking part and winning multiple prizes.
