DMCH to start Clinical Hematology Services soon

Ludhiana, January 25, 2017: Dayanand Medical College & Hospital, Ludhiana has become one of the very few hospitals in the region to have an exclusive Department of Clinical Haematology. Clinical haematology is a branch of clinical medicine which deals with diagnosis and treatment of blood cancers like multiple myeloma, lymphomas& leukaemias and benign haematological diseases likeaplastic anaemia, low platelets and bleeding & clotting disorders.

Secretary of DMCH Managing Society-Sh Prem Kumar Gupta said that Dr Rishi Dhawan. MD, MRCP, DM has recently joined the institute as Clinical Haematologist& Adult Bone Marrow Transplant Physician. Dr Dhawan has done his MD in Internal Medicine and DM in Clinical Haematology from PGIMER, Chandigarh. He has obtained advanced training in clinical haematology &adult bone marrow transplantation from National Institutes of Health (NIH) in USA and University Hospitals Bristol at Bristol in United Kingdom.

Giving further information, Sh Prem Kumar Gupta said that DMCH is coming up with a state-of-art cancer centre in near future where comprehensive management of all clinical haematological diseases includingadult bone marrow transplant services will be available. Out Patient consultation services have been started. Presently, Department of Oncology at DMCH has a team of two highly-experienced faculty members-Dr Amit Dhiman and Dr Kunaal Jain.
