DMCH organized ‘North West Chapter of Association of Medical Microbiologist’ conference MICROCON-2018
Ludhiana, October 13, 2018: Department of Microbiology, DMCH organized the ‘North West Chapter of Association of Medical Microbiologist’ conference MICROCON-2018. The inauguration was done by the chief guest-Sh Prem Kumar Gupta (Secretary, DMCH Managing Society). In his address, Sh Gupta congratulated the department and wished the conference a great success and hope that deliberations would go a long way in solving the problem of Antibiotic Resistance, over use and adequate use. Also present during the inauguration were Dr Arunaloke Chakrabarti (Professor & Head of Microbiology from PGIMER, Chandigarh) who was Guest of Honour, Dr Varsha Gupta (President, NW Chapter IAMM), Principal Dr Sandeep Puri, Vice Principal Dr Gurpreet Singh Wander, Medical Supdt. Dr Sandeep Sharma and Assistant Dean Academics Dr Sandeep Kaushal. ‘Antibiotic app’ was already in use in DMCH which has made the use of antimicrobial therapy more rationale. Organizing Secretary-Dr Deepinder Chhina (Professor & Head of Microbiology, DMCH) extended warm welcome to the delegates, who had come from different states including Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir and Rajasthan. In her message, Dr Chhina said that the conference will address various issues faced by microbiologists and clinicians in their daily practice. Renowned speakers from different parts of the country will be elaborating on these topics. Various topics like invasive fungal infections, antifungal resistance, antimicrobial stewardship and related issues were covered during the conference. A panel discussion was also held on the ‘Rationale use of Antibiotics’ with Dean Academics Dr Rajoo Singh Chhina as the moderator. Joint Organizing Secretary-Dr Veenu Gupta, Scientific Secretary-Dr Jyoti Chaudhary and other organizing team members proposed a vote of thanks to the participating delegates and for attending the conference and also thanked the management & administrators of DMCH for the constant support and encouragement for better patient care.
