Ludhiana, January 28, 2019: Dean Academics Dr Rajoo Singh Chhina (Professor of Gastroenterology) was elected as ‘President of Indian Society of Gastroenterology (Punjab Chapter)’ at a function organized in Ludhiana. Dr Ajay Gupta, President, Indian Society of Gastroenterology was also present on the function and congratulated Dr Chhina for holding such prestigious position In his address, Dr Chhina spoke on the need of making healthcare affordable, accessible and available. He touched on the needs of anti-microbial resistance and said that the research in Gastroenterology has to be India-centric and should also include new innovations. Dr Rajoo Singh Chhina is the President of Gastrointestinal Society of India since 2017 and has also been the Secretary of Nutritional Society of India from year 2012 to 2016. He has also been awarded GS Sainani and KL Whig orations. Having more than 100 publications to his credit in national and international journals and many chapters in books, Dr Chhina is also member of Drug Controller in India and also technical adviser to United Nations on Biomedical Waste Management since 2014. He also has various fellowships in Japan, USA and England to his credit.
