District Sanitation Mela Organised At Jagraon

Jagraon, July 14, 2016: The prominent people (panches sarpanches) of Jagraon constituency have vowed to make "Swachh Punjab Mission" successful by creating awareness about potable drinking water and using toilets in their respective villages. They vowed this during District Sanitation Mela organised at a local marriage palace, and this mela was addressed by Jagraon MLA Mr SR Kler, Deputy Commissioner Mr Ravi Bhagat, Sanitation Department director Mr Mohammad Ishfaq, besides others.
While speaking on the occasion, Mr SR Kler said that more than Rs 1.75 crore would be spent on providing potable drinking water and toilets to the needy in Jagraon constituency. He said that a survey in this regard has already been carried out by the department, but still if any person is left, the respective Panchayat's can submit their resolutions, after which toilets would be provided to the needy on priority basis.
He appealed to the representatives of panchayat's to give proper assistance to the Water Supply & Sanitation Department.
Deputy Commissioner Mr Ravi Bhagat informed that a total of 26107 toilets are to be constructed in Ludhiana district, out of which around 16000 have already been constructed, and work on construction of 5000 toilets was stared in a single day on July 12. He informed that these toilets would be ready in next two months time. He assured the gathering that very soon, all houses of the district would have potable drinking water as well as toilets. He also appealed to the people that they should make Ludhiana Open Defecation Free and also form vigilance committees on village level.
While addressing the gathering, Mr Mohammad Ishfaq spoke in detail about the work done in this regard by his department. Teacher and social worker Mr Karamjit Grewal also educated the gathering with his impressive presentation in this regard.
Prominent among those present on the occasion included SDM Kulpreet Singh, XEN Jaswinder Singh Chahal, XEN Amritpal Singh, SDO Rai Varinder Singh, Chairman Chand Singh Dalla, BDPO Jaswant Singh Waraich, Chairman Didar Singh Malak, besides several others.
