DISTRICT ADMINISTRATION CELEBRATES NATIONAL VOTERS DAY IN GOVERNMENT COLLEGE FOR GIRLS

Ludhiana, January 26, 2019: The district administration celebrated the National Voters Day in Government College for Girls, here on Friday. Additional Deputy Commissioner-cum-Nodal Officer of SVEEP Activities Dr Neeru Katyal Gupta was the chief guest of the function. A large number of students were also present on the occasion.

Motivating the youth to exercise their right to vote in the elections, she motivated them to come out in a large number during the elections. She told them about the importance of the day being celebrated from January 25, 2011, and to protect the democracy, voting is one of the greatest tools given by our constitution.

She said that casting the vote is our duty and everyone should perform the duty sincerely as it would ensure the protection of the rights. She said that we all feel proud to be residing in a free country like India, but all of us should also understand that India gained independence after a lot of struggle. She said that all of us should work hard for strengthening our democracy by exercising our right to vote, which is our duty as well.

On this occasion, several officials were honoured for their work regarding voter awareness. SDM (West) Mr Damanjeet Singh Mann was adjudged best returning officer, Dr Khushdeep Kaur as best Nodal officer and Mr Suresh Kumar (Vidhan Sabha constituency Sahnewal 069) as best BLO. Besides, others who have been working for voter awareness in district Ludhiana were also honoured on the occasion. An NGO headed by Mr Kumar Gaurav also gave a presentation on voter awareness.

The Additional Deputy Commissioner also administered oath of exercising their right to vote in a free and fair manner to the voters present on the occasion. Videos related to SVEEP activities, slogan writing competition, declamation contest, essay writing competition and poster making competition were also organised.

On this occasion, Land Acquisition Collector of Ludhiana Improvement Trust Mr Satwant Singh, Tehsildar Mr Ajitpal Singh, Block Agriculture Officer Mr Charanjit Singh Kainth, College Principal Mrs Savita Rani were also present.
