Prefix ‘Dr.’ to your name without doing MBBS; Pharm.D course launched at CGC Landran
With intent to scale up medical education in Punjab by offering a unique and lucrative course to the students, Doctor of Pharmacy or Pharm.D has been incorporated by Chandigarh Group of Colleges, Landran. This is the only pharmacy course in India that entails a direct contact with patient healthcare system and certifies the professional to take vital decisions in prescribed medicines. This will certainly be an advantage for those who opt out of the rat race.
A Memorandum of Understanding has been signed between Grecian Hospital, Mohali and CGC Landran to offer hands-on experience to the students. “I wish this course was available few years back while I was pursuing my pharmacy degree. This seems like a better option” said Gagandeep Singh Sachdev, Pharmacy Alumni, CGC Landran.
The 6 years doctoral program at CGC Landran in pharmacy is approved by the Pharmacy Council of India and is inviting 12th grade Passouts.
While sharing the details regarding the difference between the B.pharm and Pharm.D, Dr. M. Arockia Babu, Director Principal, Chandigarh College of Pharmacy said, “Unlike B.Pharm which is related to the teaching, manufacturing & provision of medicines, Pharm.D is more specific to hospital industry which is focused on clinical practices. Pharm.D doctors review prescriptions, analyze medication errors and monitor adverse drug reactions”. This will also enable students to prefix ‘Dr.’ to their names, he added.
