Achievers of Viviana – XRCVC Resource Centre felicitated
Mumbai, December 5, 2016: Viviana Mall, India’s first visually impaired friendly mall along with XRCVC(Xavier's Resource Center for the Visually Challenged) resource centre had arranged an exciting evening for disabled and visually impaired, this World Disabled Day.
Students from Indian Council for Mental Health School showcased live dance performances for the residents.
The resource centre felicitated achievements of differently abled. Apart from these, students from Viviana – XRCVC Resource Centre distributed specially prepared flowers and bookmarks with messages to visitors at the mall on the World Disabled Day.
Commenting on the event, Ms. Rima Pradhan, Sr. Vice President, Marketing at Viviana Mall said, “Our aim is to make the society aware of the hidden potential in disabled individuals. They are not inferior to us in any manner and we want the society to be more cognizant of that fact. We, as a part of the society want to break the stigma around them and give disabled persons a chance to showcase their talent. We in fact are a firm believer that each and every individual has a special talent. Hence we do not refer to them has disabled, we call them as more enabled (or differently abled).”
“Our society cannot hide from the fact that these disabled individuals have the ability to perform better than us and they have proven themselves nationally and internationally – be it arts, cultural or sports. Our performance in RIO Paralympics is a live example for it. If we give them the right training, give them the right direction they will excel in each and every field on their own.” She added further.
The mall has undertaken various initiatives along with XRCVC Centre and Pankh towards to break barriers that stopped growth of differently abled persons and opened doors to shape their careers. More than 2000 visually impaired have already benefitted from Viviana- XRCVC resource centre from various training programs.
