Chandigarh, November 26, 2012: The Punjab Government has decided to construct four lane railways over bridge (RoB) over the Kapurthala-Khojewala Railway link on the Jalandhar-Kapurthala road with the cost of Rs.34 crore.
This was disclosed by Sharanjit Singh Dhillon, PWD Minister, Punjab.
He said that the construction of this four lane RoB would be helpful in solving the ever increasing congestion on roads of this area. He added the government has also initiated the work for constructing 4 km long new road and up gradation of 3.2 km stretch of the same road leading from Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana to Borlaug Institute of South Asia (BISA), which would strengthen the communication route between these two institutes.
The minister said that the state government has already construct Bathinda-Badal road with the cost of Rs.29 crore at Bathinda, construction of RoB at Bahadurgarh-Ghanaur-Shambhu highway with the cost of Rs.17 crore, whereas Rs.21 crore has been invested on the construction of railway under bridge (RuB) on Bathinda-Talwandi Sabo highway at Bathinda. He said that the three lane bridge on Amritsar-Jalandhar highway and high level bridge on river Satluj between Makhu-Sultanpur Lodhi Road and high level bridge at Muradpura Drain has been opened for the public, which have recently been constructed by the government.
