Weather department said that Very heavy rainfall occurred at isolated places in the district of Kangra and heavy rainfall occurred at isolated places in the district of Chamba during this period.
Dharamshala is the most wet station with 166mm rain and its airport recorded 118 mm rain. The highest rain recorded after Dharamshala was Dalhousie with 73mm rain followed by Palampur-64mm, Chamba-60 mm, Kufri-57 mm, Banjr-51 mm, Hamirpur-46 mm, Khadrala-43 mm, Kasauli-41 mm, Shimla-40 mm, Sangrah-38 mm, Janjehli-34 mm, Mashobra & Saloni-32 mm each, Solan-31 mm, Bhoranj-28 mm, Gohar-26 mm, Kandaghat-25 mm, Kumarsen-23 mm, Bijahi-22 mm, Jubbar Hatti & Paonta Sahib-21 mm each, Manali-20 mm, Bharari-18 mm, Berthin, Baijnath & Kheri-17 mm each, Dehra, Gopipur & Jubbal -16 mm each, Baldwara & Rohru-15 mm each, Mehre-14 mm, Rampur-13 mm and Sarahan-12mm of rain in the past 24 hours.
The Kangra district administration informed media at Dharamshala that almost all the rivulets of the Kangra valley are on spate and public is adviced not to venture near the water.
Many roads are blocked in the district including the Dharamsala-Kangra road, which was blocked on Saturday morning for many hours due to a landslide near Sakoh village, 2 km from here. As it is the major road, the traffic was diverted through the Sheela crossing.
Owing to heavy rain in the region, Kangra Deputy Commissioner Rakesh Prajapati has ordered closure of all educational institutes in the district on Saturday.
Meteorological department predicts heavy to very heavy rainfall likely at one or two places in the state on August 17 and 18. Whereas there should be no recipe from monsoon in the coming days.
