Ludhiana, April 22, 2015: Science has given us knowledge which has led to development of the society from the primitive times to the modern day setup. Whereas this has made our life comfortable but wrong use of the science has also created problems like global warming and nuclear weapons which threaten our own existence. But there are forces who are trying hard to keep the society in obscurantist stage and oppose the rational outlook. This was the message that emanated from the inter-school declamation contest organized by the Bharat Jan Gyan Vigyan Jatha (BJGVJ) under the aegis of Punjab State Council for Science and Technology (PSCST) as a part of National Science Day celebrations held today, the World Earth Day on the theme “How Science Has Changed My Outlook to Life” in the Sargodha Khalsa Girls Sr. Sec. School. Over all students from nine schools participated in the event. Charles Darwin through his discoveries reached conclusion that the life on earth has evolved through a complex process; it has not been created by any unknown power. Challenging the prevalent beliefs Galileo and Copernicus told that the earth is not flat but it is round and revolves around the sun. For this they had to suffer wrath of the rulers and the believers.

Through their labour the human race developed in different fields from the ancient period to the present day development. The ancient man thought the natural events like the rain, fire, floods, earthquakes etc to be because of some super power. But now we know the causes of these events. Similarly we know the causes and management of several diseases.
