Chandigarh, December 24, 2018: The four day Dev Samaj Mahotsav 2018 which was going on in the premises of Dev Samaj College of Education , Sec 36 here has concluded.
The Mahotsav was witness to a momentous event in the annals of Dev Samaj. Shriman Nirmal Singh Dhillon, Secretary, Dev Samaj was honoured and elevated to the highest position of 'volunteering' in the organization. This was done for his immense contribution to not just the Samaj but also to society in general. Dev Samaj council took this decision enumerating the highly commendable contribution of Nirmal Singh Dhillon which was worth emulating. It is noteworthy that Shriman Ji as he is fondly referred to by members of Dev Samaj has over six decades of illustrious service to society and of leading a life of ethical values as per the tenets of Dev Samaj.
The much awaited news was heartily welcomed by all the members of Dev Samaj amidst a loud applause as Nirmal Singh Dhillon renewed his vows. Many councilors shared their experiences as they were mentored by Shriman ji.
It is noteworthy that Nirmal Singh Dhillon has been making tireless efforts to promote education and especially women education. He has been a visionary, an educationist of excellence, who has dedicated himself completely to the mission of Bhagwan Dev Atma, the founder of Dev Samaj.
In his discourse on 'Devjeevan Dhari Dev Atma', Nirmal Singh Dhillon narrated the life story of Bhagwan Dev Atma. "The founder of Dev Samaj's reverence for logical reasoning, scientific temper, education and altruism was evident from the very beginning. He had completely renounced all low desires and low actions and anything which could not be scientifically verified." Said Nirmal Singh Dhillon.
Dr Agnese Dhillon, Principal Dev Samaj College of Education , Sec 36 read out the report of the various philanthropic activities like tree plantation, blood donation, cleanliness drives, bhajan gayan, and visits to old age homes and orphanages organized in all the Dev Samaj institutions in various states of India.
The four day event came to a close. The Mahotsav comprised of discourses, Bhajan gayan, band display, blood donation camp and a drama.
