Dentists Don the White Coat
Chandigarh, December 12, 2018: The Principal, Faculty, Staff and students of Dr.Harvansh Singh Judge Institute of Dental Sciences, Panjab University, Chandigarh formally welcomed the incoming batch of B.D.S.(around 100)and M.D.S.(around 15)students, in an illustrious White Coat ceremony, held here today at Panjab University. Prof.Raj Kumar, Vice Chancellor, Panjab University in his address advised the students to stay focused and move ahead in life with determination. He emphasized that white coat is a symbolic, non-verbal communication used to express and reaffirm a fundamental belief in a system that society observes. The authority of dress is serious and purposeful, not social, casual or random, he added. Mr. Karan Avtar Singh, Chief Secretory, Punjab Government attended the function as a Guest of Honor. He expressed his happiness to be part of the event and advised the students to do justice to the profession. Prof. ShankarjiJha, Dean University Instructions, Panjab University, attended the event as a Guest of Honour. Prof. Gupta mentioned the teachings of Gita and urged the students to be on the path of righteousness. Dr. JagatBhushan, the Director of the Institute, while welcoming the guests impressed upon the students the essence of donning the White Coat and the responsibilities that come with it. After receiving their White Coats from the Dignities, the students undertook the Dental Oath. One of the proud parents addressed the audience and shared his experience of his daughter’s journey to the dental course. The Ceremony was attended by the parents of the students, who with glistening eyes and proud smiles on their faces, watched their children don the white coat, with promises of duty and service.
