Ludhiana, October 2, 2015: Punjab Health and Family Welfare Minister Mr Surjit K Jyanivtoday said that the Dengue situation is under control in the state and both Health and Local Bodies department is taking steps to curb it. Mr Jyani informed that till date, 3747 people have  been diagnosed with
Dengue and at present, 620 people are under treatment and three deaths have been reported so far. Mr Jyani said this while attending a job fair for people with special needs at School for Blind and Differently Abled Children, Chandigarh Road, here today.
    While speaking to media persons, Mr Jyani said that the is no need to panic when it comes to Dengue fever. He said that the Punjab government is making efforts to keep a check on its spread. He said that teams of Local Bodies and Health & Family Welfare department are
carrying regular checks in houses as well as commercial establishments to find larvae of Aedes mosquito (which is responsible for dengue fever).
    During the job fair, a total of 14 different companies took part and 450 people with special needs got registered. Mr Jyani informed that 80 of them were handed over appointment letters by the companies on the spot, while the remaining would now be trained at the Skill Development Centre and NGO, Sarthak, would make sure they too get jobs soon.
     For making people with special needs self dependent, the Punjab government  in collaboration with an NGO, Sarthak, organised a Job Fair today. A large number of people with special needs from different parts of the state participated in this Job Fair.
     Mr Jyani also visited the premises of National Federation of Blind office located in the same complex and assured all visually impaired present on the spot that all their demands would be met on priority basis. He also announced a grant of Rs 5 lakh for the federation and ordered that they should be allotted a room in the premises.
    Prominent among those present on the occasion included DC Mr Rajat Agarwal, ADC (D) Mrs Shena Aggarwal, SDM Mrs Anuprita Johal, Mr Gurpreet Singh, Mr Parminder Singh Phullanwal, besides others.
