Ludhiana, August 6, 2014: Having in view the large scale industrial and business growth and potential of the city, the Centre should constitute a Bench of an Income Tax Appellate Tribunal (ITAT) at Ludhiana. It’s constitution require one judicial member and one accountant member whereas the special Bench (ITAT) has 3 or more members. Ashok Kumar Juneja, President and B.R. Kaushal, General Secretary, Punjab Tax Bar Association (PTBA) have requested the Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, that at present all the Bar members & appellants relating to the income tax appellate matters concerning Ludhiana, Moga, Ferozepur, Khanna, Phagwara and some other major districts of Punjab have to go to ITAT’s Bench at Chandigarh.
Rajpal Gupta, Senior vice president and Ajay Chaudhary, Vice President (PTBA) said that Chief Commissioner of Income Tax (CCIT), Appellate and other commissioners of Income Tax, Director (Investigation Wing) and various ITOs and other high ups are effectively working in Ludhiana.
Lalit Takyar, General Secretary and Arun Kanwal, Secretary (PTBA) said that more than 1000 Bar members in Ludhiana and adjoining cities who go to Chandigarh will be benefitted by constitution of ITAT bench at Ludhiana.
Rupinder Kansal, Secretary and Inder Sain Sharma, Finance Secretary (PTBA) said that establishment of Bench at Ludhiana will save cost of litigation, travelling expenses and saving of much time of appellants, as well as of the members of “Taxation Bar Associations” who will appear before the said ITAT at Ludhiana.
H.S. Ghai and Tarlok Bhalla, Joint Secretary (PTBA) appreciated Jaitley for doing much as the Union Finance Minister and this move will further pick up his image in the eyes of tax professionals.
