Ludhiana, October 24, 2012: The CPI demands door to door making of ration cards. A deputation of the Communist Party of India (CPI) led by Com Ramesh Rattan – City Secretary met the District Food and Supply Controller Lokesh Sharma in this regard.

According to available information, the deputationists told DFSC that it has been more than 20 years that the ration cards were made. “Our city has witnessed increase in population during this period”, they said, adding,” Many families have to come to settle in the city from different parts of the state and country; and many families have emerged as a result of growth in the existing family”. But large number of citizens have not been issued ration cards, they said.

Adding, they apprised DFSC that because of this they have to face many difficulties in their day to day life. It is not possible for the citizens to visit DFSC office for this purpose. Therefore the deputationists impressed upon the officer necessity to prepare fresh ration cards by going door to door.

The DFSC while agreeing with the demand of the party assured that he will soon take necessary action this regards.

Among others, O. P. Mehta, Gurnam Sidhu, Gulzar Goria, Varinder Birdi, Manjit Singh Buta, Nagina Ram, Bharat Singh, Ismail Khan, Balbir Singh and Charan Singh were included in the deputation.
