Ludhiana, December 29, 2012: Significant number of women under the banner of the Rashtriya Hindu Manch under the leadership of its Women Wing president Sunita Sharma took out a peaceful protest march from various parts of the city today, following the receipt of news about the death of a Delhi gang rape victim this morning.

The procession started from Daresi Grounds and after passing through various parts culminated at Clock Tower. The protestors were wearing black badges as a mark of protest against the government for not taking stringent action against those including in heinous crimes such as rape.

Addressing the gathering, Sharma expressed shock over the incident. She regretted that such tragic and shocking incidents were taking place in the country when women were holding key posts such as Meira Kumar, Speaker, Lok Sabha, Sonia Gandhi, chairperson, UPA and Sushma Swaraj, Leader of Lok Sabha.

She also expressed shock and anger over the suicide committed by a rape victim in the Patiala village.

She asserted that the government, both at the Centre and the states, should ensure complete protection to the women.

Rashtriya Hindu Manch president Pawan Sharma also addressed the protestors and sought stringent legal action against the rapists. He opined that either the rapists should be hanged or some more stringent punishment be given to them so that nobody else should think of indulging in such heinous crimes.

Among others, the Rashtriya Hindu Manch’s general secretary OP Tripathi, organising secretary Mohan Upadhaya, district chief Suresh Sachdeva and others such as Pardeep Gupta, Vipan Thapar, Reeta Thapar, Anjali and Urmila Sharma were present.
