Ludhiana, July 27, 2018: Office barriers of Punjab Tax Bar Association lead by Sh.Balkrishan Gupta President and Sh.B.R.Kaushal, Secretary General of the Association met Sh.Vivek Partap Singh Excise& Taxation Commissioner Punjab at Patiala.The meeting lasted for more than 2 hours & was very fruitful.
The delegation brought to the notice of the worthyExcise& Taxation Commissioner Punjab various hardships still being faced by the Tax Professionals, Trade andIndustry in spite of number of positive steps taken by the government.
Sh.BalKrishan Gupta President of the Association raised the issue of providing more funds for VAT refunds. He stressed on the need of transparency while issuing VAT refund. He also brought to the notice of the Commissioner Irregularities and questionable role of the Govt. treasury. Sh.B.R.Kaushal, Secretary General raised the issue of providing space for Bar Rooms in mini secretariat atAmritsar in District offices of the department. He further brought to the notice of the Commissioner that Khanna office of the department needs to be shifted to some safer Place as present building can collapse any time and has already been declared unsafe by the court.
Sh.Ashok Juneja Chairman & Sh. Arun Kanwal President, Ludhiana Tax Bar Association Stressed on the need of fixing the accountability of the officers. They further stressed for providing provisions for amendment / rectifications in the GST return so that bona fide mistakes can be rectified.
Sh. RupinderKansal General Secretoryand Sh. K.K. Singla President,Patiala Tax Bar Association stressed for quick response by the concerned officialswhenever any difficulty/ problems is brought to their notice.They further highlighted the problems face by the sugar industry regarding pending VAT refunds.
Sh. Kashmiri LalGoyal Chief patron & Sh. MukeshGhai President, Mohali Tax Bar Association stressed for appointingChairman andmembers of the Tribunal so that Appellate work should not suffer.
Other important issues like delay in issuing penalty orders by the officers mobile wing , automatic shifting of quarterly returns to monthly returns, adjustment of penalties & other dues against amount standing in cash/ credit ledger, clarification regarding submissions of refund application under GST etc were discussed.
Sh.Vivek Partap Singh, Excise & Taxation Commissioner Punjab promised to take concrete & necessary action on the issues raised in the meeting at the earliest. He assured thatGovernment is taking all the necessary steps to smoothen the functioning of the GST& all the suggestions are welcome. Smt. Baldeep Kaur DETC, Sh. Pawan Garg DETC, Sh. Darbara Singh DETC, Sh. Lajapt Jhakhar DETC, Sh. Baldeep Karan ETO & Other Senior Officers of the department was also present.
In additions to the office bearer of Punjab Tax Bar Association, Presidents and Secretaries of Various District Tax Bar Association were also present.
