DECISION: Punjab Government to constitute paramedical council

Chandigarh, November 18, 2012: The Punjab Government has decided to constitute the Paramedical Council in order to regulate the practices of paramedical practitioners and institutions in the state. The blue print of Punjab State Paramedical Council Act, 2012 has been uploaded on the website of the Medical Education and Research Department. Objections from the different walks have been sought for the better enactment of the act.

While disclosing this here, Medical Education Minister, Chunni Lal Bhagat said that the department has invited suggestions and objections, if any, from the parties concerned till November 25, 2012, so that judicious concerns may be incorporated in the act. He said that this paramedical council would formulate schemes for promoting paramedical education. He said that the council would also lay down norms and standards for courses, curricula, physical and instructional facilities, staff pattern, staff qualification, quality instructions, assessment, examination and continuing medical education.

Bhagat said that Director, Research and Medical Education would be the president of the council, whereas senior most Principal of State Medical College would be inducted as Vice President. He said that suggestions and objections could be sent on the e-mail [email protected]
