District Administration takes serious note of disposal of polluted water into Sidhwan Canal
Ludhiana, March 26, 2015: Taking a serious note of matter in which some unscrupulous elements disposing off polluted water into Sidhwan Canal, Deputy Commissioner Rajat Agarwal on Wednesday has said that this matter would be strictly dealt with and people behind this incident would be identified and duly punished.
It is pertinent to mention that taking advantage of dark, some unscrupulous elements or some factory owners were disposing off polluted and chemical laden water into Sidhwan Canal (near Dugri bridge) for last two nights. This matter was brought to the notice of the Deputy Commissioner by representatives of a social organisation named “Lets Clean Ludhiana” today. Taking immediate action into the matter, the Deputy Commissioner ordered District Revenue Officer Mukesh Kumar, Irrigation Department’s Executive Engineer Rajeev Goyal, Assistant Commissioner of Police Ramanjit Singh and officials of Ludhiana Municipal Corporation to reach the spot and take strict action against the violators.
Though no person was arrested from the spot, but the Deputy Commissioner ordered the MC officials to register an FIR and identify the accused. He ordered that strict vigil should be kept on this particular as well as all points along the Sidhwan Canal so that no person is involved to indulge in such illegal activities. He said that if any person is caught indulging in such illegal activities, strict legal action would be taken against him.
Deputy Commissioner Rajat Agarwal also appealed to the city residents to save our environment by not indulging in such activities. He assured all social organisations working for saving our environment and cleaning of Sidhwan Canal of all possible help.
