VISITS THE HISTORIC PARK AND AS MC AUTHORITIES TO EMBARK MASSIVE CLEANLINESS DRIVE IN STADIUM
Jalandhar, February 1, 2019: Stepping in for giving a clean and green look to the local Burlton Park, the Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Mr.Varinder Kumar Sharma today asked the Municipal Corporation Jalandhar (MCJ) authorities to embark a massive cleanliness drive in the stadium.
The Deputy Commissioner, who along with the Sub Divisional Magistrate Mr.Paramvir Singh and Joint Commissioner Municipal Corporation Mr.Rajiv Verma, visited the stadium said that it was unfortunate that this glorious legacy of the city was now turning down into a dumping ground for garbage and debris. He said that this needs to be checked in order to save this historic park, which were green lungs of the city. Mr. Sharma asked the civic body authorities and the officers of the district administration to chalk out a foolproof strategy to give this park a cleaner look.
The Deputy Commissioner said that a viable mechanism has to be evolved for checking the spilling of garbage inside the ground, apart from the dumping ground of the MC. Likewise, he said that the illegal dumping of debris in the ground has to be checked with a firm hand. Mr. Sharma asked the officers to ensure that the people throwing debris were caught and fined, so that it should act as a deterrent for others.
The Deputy Commissioner asked the Sub Divisional Magistrate Mr. Paramvir Singh and Joint Commissioner Municipal Corporation Mr. Rajiv Verma to regularly monitor the drive of cleaning the Burlton park stadium. He said that the administration would also rope in the people from all walks of life to change the look of this prestigious park. Mr. Sharma also asked the MC authorities to dissuade the people from burning garbage as it creates a lot of pollution, which was hazardous for human health. He also said that administration would make concerted efforts for construction of boundary wall and installation of gates in the stadium.
On the occasion District Head of GoGs Major General (Retd) Balwinder Singh, Principal of DAVIET Dr. Manoj Kumar, District Guidance Counselor Mr. Surjit Lal, Prof Midha, Assistant Director Youth Services Captain Inderjeet Singh Dhami and others were also present.
