DC pays surprise visit to Central Jail

Ferozepur, September 26, 2012 :  Dr.S.Karuna Raju, Deputy Commissioner, Ferozepur, inspected the Central Jail all of a sudden on Thursday and enquired about the food, medical and other facilities being extended to the jail prisoners and under-trail prisoners.

On this occasion, he was accompanied by Gurmail Singh, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Ramandeep Singh Sandhu, Jail Superintendent and Lalit Kohli, Deputy Superintendent  Jail.

He informed that there are more than 1,600 prisoners and under-trial prisoners in the central jail and they are being provided the food and other amenities as per the Jail Manual. He also listened to the problems of the prisoners and assured them to solve the same. 

He also informed that the cases of those prisoners who have applied for long leave to the  Punjab  government will be pursued jointly by the DC and jail officials so that they may join their families at the earliest possible.  

He also added that a reference to Punjab Government will be made, for requirement of staff and medicines for the hospital inside the jail premises.  Deputy Commissioner also directed the jail officials to give special attention for health, food and education, to the women inmates and their children
