DC, Mayor and Sr Dy Mayor pay homage to martyr

Ludhiana, September 28, 2012: Deputy Commissioner Rahul Tiwari, Mayor Harcharan Singh Gohalwaria and Senior Deputy Commissioner Sunita Aggarwal garlanded the statues of Sardar Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev , on Jagraon Bridge, to pay homage to the martyr Bhagat Singh on his birth anniversary today.

Speaking on the occasion, the deputy commissioner recalled the sacrifice made by the martyrs of the Nation. He said the real tribute to the martyrs would be that they should make every effort for participating in socio – economic origress of the country to fulfill dreams of the martyrs.

Deputy commissioner also called upon people to take a pledge to work against social evils such as female foeticide and dowry.

In his speech, Gohalwaria said chowk on Jagraon Bridge where the martyrs’ statue had been installed would be further beautified by Ludhiana Municipal Corporation. He also assured that every step would be taken by the Corporation to maintain proper cleanliness of the chowk.
