Dharamshala, November 22, 2019: A meeting was held today, under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Kangra Rakesh Kumar Prajapati to review the progress of various development works going on in all the development blocks of Kangra district.
The meeting was attended by all the Block Development Officers of the district, DRDA, Panchayati Raj officials.
The Deputy Commissioner said that work is being done for long term development in the district under MNREGA. 69 crore 73 lakhs have been spent under MGNREGA in Kangra district during the current financial year. So far, 45 percent target of the scheme has been achieved in the district.
He emphasized on the formation of self-help groups with the aim of encouraging women to adopt self-employment and self-reliance under the National Rural Livelihood Mission. “Under the scheme, a target has been set to constitute 585 self-help groups in the current financial year and 1754 self-help groups have been given assistance of Rs 13.25 crore,” said DC.
He said that smooth implementation of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, Chief Minister Housing Scheme, Chief Minister Lok Bhavan Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Adarsh Gram Yojana, Chief Minister Adarsh Gram Yojana should be ensured. It has also been asked to prepare a suitable action plan for the execution of solid waste at the panchayat level so that the panchayats can be made clean and beautiful. Giving directions to the development block officers, he said that it is necessary to review all the schemes and programs so that the development works can be expedited.
The Deputy Commissioner instructed BDOs stating “the funds allocated for development works in panchayats should be utilized properly, special care should be taken for quality in construction works. It is also necessary to complete the development works within the stipulated time”.
