Chandigarh, October 5, 2018: The highlight of Day 3 of The Panjab University Youth and Heritage Festival, Zone-B was a showcase of talent by participating girls in acting based competitions like mime, mimicry etc. The day started with an enthralling mime event in which a total of 36 students participated. Themes varied from child abuse to Mob lynching. This was followed by a skit competition in which 6 teams and 36 students participated. Themes varied from drugs to women empowerment. Various competitions like Mimicry, Bhand, Histrionics and One Act Play were also held.

A Quiz competition too took place. Various competitions like Embroidery, Phulkari, Bagh Dasuti, Pakhi Designing, Crochet Work, Knitting and Mehndi Designing were also held under the Heritage Art & Craft segment.

"The girls displayed superior acting talent in various competitions today. Though the performances entertained the audience, the underlying theme of these, gave a deep message. The idea was not just to provide a platform to the young actresses to show their skills, but also to spread messages against drugs and other social evils. What best way to achieve this than theatre." Said Dr Jaspal Kaur, Principal, Dev Samaj College for Women, Sec 45, Chandigarh.

Dr. Jaspal Kaur, Principal welcomed the Chief Guest Dr. Pali Bhupinder , Director, Dramatist Screen Writer at USOL. Mr. Bal Mukund Sharma, Additional Director Markfed Punjab and Dr. Jagwant Singh were the Guests of Honour. Dr. Agnese Dhillon, Secretary Dev Samaj Managing Committee gave away the prizes and congratulated the students. The Chief Guest appreciated the hard work put in by the students and encouraged them to strive for greater success in life. It is pertinent to mention here that Mr. Davesh Moudgil, Mayor, Chandigarh , was Chief Guest in the evening session.

Day 4 which is October 6 will be the concluding day of the grand festival, in which women students from different colleges are getting a chance to show their talent in diverse competitions. The concluding day will witness colorful events. Folk dances like Giddha & Sammi will be performed. What's more, classical dances and group dances are also slated to fill the air with joy & excitement.

It is noteworthy to mention here that Dev Samaj College for Women, Sec 45, here is hosting the festival . Elaborate arrangements have been made for smooth conduct of the festival and as many as 4 clearly earmarked venues have been set up in the college's premises.
