DAV College organized quiz and poster making competition on topic “zoology past, present and future”

Jalandhar, September 23, 2019: Post Graduate Department of Zoology under the aegis of Darwin Zoological Society of DAV College, Jalandhar, organized Quiz and Poster making competition on the topic “Zoology Past, Present and Future”. Principal Dr.S.K.Arora joined as the chief guest of the competition who were welcomed by HoD of Zoology Dr.Karuna Mittal and President of Darwin Zoological Society Prof.Deepak Wadhawan by presenting a flower bouquet. Principal Dr.Arora said that the Department of Zoology is constantly organizing competitions whereby students are becoming stronger not only in bookish knowledge but also in practical knowledge. This shows the foresight of this department. He congratulated the Department of Zoology for organizing such competitions and congratulated the students for participating in such competitions. There were four teams in Quiz competition among UG and PG classes. The names were Mendel, Linnaeus, Aristotle and Jenner. Nearly fifty entries were in poster making competition, where themes were as under: Wildlife diversity In Punjab; Sustainable Development in Punjab; Evolutionary Trends In Animals; Human Health and Parasites; Biopesticides; Science and Technology for National Development. Prof Deepak Wadhawan, President of Darwin Zoological Society introduced the various society members and told about future planning of the society so as to conduct various programs in the year 2019-20. Prof. Kroona (HOD Zoology), Prof. Punit Puri, Prof. Pooja , Prof. Abhinay, Prof. Pankaj Prof. Dinesh and Prof. Kapila along with lab staff Happy, Chander Abhishek and Naveen were present during the function. Principal Dr SK Arora, Staff Secretary Prof.Vipin Jhanji, Prof.Jain, Prof.Mahajan, Dr.SK Tuli, Prof.Sanjay Sharma, Prof.Deepak Wadhawan along with Karoona Mittal HoD Zoology, gave away the prizes to winners. RESULTS Quiz: Team Mendal won the competition, Team Jenner became the first runner up and Team Lamarck became the second runner up. Poster Competition: UG Level: First Abhishek; Second Mansi; Third : Sakshi; Consolation Prize : Sonal. PG Level: First Ashita; Second Jasleen Kaur; Third Kirandeep Kaur; Consolation Prize Enaviya.
