D.A.V College Girls Hostel has organised 'Fun Fest'

Jalandhar, February 9, 2019: D.A.V College Jalandhar Girls Hostel has organised 'Fun Fest' in which boarders and students enjoyed a lot enthusiastically. Fun Fest and Sports meet have been organised by the college where students had great fun. DAV College Jalandhar girls hostel organised a sports meet which was named as "FUN FEST" . OAS Sukshi Aashima Jain (Joint Commissioner , Municipal Corporation, Jalandhar) made her presence as the Chief guest. Principal Dr. S. K. Arora , Chief warden Dr. Hemant Kumar , Warden Mrs. Romila Verma and Mrs. Renu Mahajan welcomed her by presenting a flower bouquet . On this occasion Principal Dr.S. K Arora addressed students and said that games and Sports not only help in keeping our mind fresh but also gives many opportunities to learn new things in one's life. He stressed upon taking part in some activity along with academics. He said that if we want to succeed in our life then we should avoid looking back and we must be confident and must believe in our capabilities. He conveyed his best wishes to Warden Rumila Verma and Chief Warden Prof. Hemant Kumar who organised this great event and he said he wishes that such events will be organised in future also. Addressing the students, the Chief guest said that a survey has shown that the development of cognitive skills in active children is intensely developed. They are able to concentrate well and make use of their brain more well than inactive children. This is a very good reason for children to take part in sports. From sports we learn the skills of teamwork. This is a valuable asset, which helps in future job or other workplace. The Chief Warden of the hostel, Prof. Hemant Kumar, said that the game teaches us discipline, and life without discipline is incomplete. If one can not win for any reason, then he should not give up, rather should go ahead with courage. Other professors who graced the event by their presence were Dr Kiranjit Randhawa, Hostel Committee Member Madam SharanJeet, Madam Komal, Madam Renuka, Hostel Warden Madam Rumila and Madam Renu . Prof.Hemant and Dr.Amandeep Bhatia were also there at the event. After this many interesting games were held like Hurdel race, Balance the ball, Tug of war, Blind hit, sack race, 3 Leg race, brick race, lemon spoon race, Balloon race, Partner makeup, Kitchen queen, Kangaroo Walk, wiper sweeper, Box to Carpet , scooter run and many more . These games entertained all the boarders and students. Winners of the games were then awarded. After this programme there was a special arrangement of DJ Night where all the girls danced a lot. More than 165 students took part in this event. Vice Principal Prof Arun Mehra while addressing the hostel students said that he is privileged to be part of this event. He said that such events help in overall development of students.
