Ludhiana, May 19, 2016: Shri Upkar Singh Ahuja, General Secretary, Chamber of Industrial and Commercial Undertakings (CICU), Ludhiana today said that a delegation led by him along with Mr.Jagbir Singh Sokhi, Vice President met with Deputy Chief Minister, Punjab – Mr Sukhbir Singh Badal and raised the concerns of the existing MSMEs in Ludhiana in respect of upcoming “Cycles Valley” at new Focal Point, Dhanansu.
He mentioned that the Delegation raised the issue of Cycles Valley and informed to the Deputy Chief Minister that with setting up of the said Valley, the local MSMEs will be hit badly, especially; when the Chinese Manufacturers will set up their shops or transfer goods from China. He also stated that the existing Cycle Industry is set up at Ludhiana for the last 60 years, have been contributing a lot since then and now they are trying to upgrade them to manufacture High End Products of International Standard.
He further quoted that the Deputy Chief Minister discussed their concerns in details. The Deputy Chief Minister assured that MSME’s interests will be taken care of so that they do not get upset with Chinese Investment. The Deputy CM further revealed that all adequate steps will be taken to ensure that MSMEs do not suffer with the entry of Chinese Manufacturers. He also assured that the land will be kept at Dhanansu Focal Point for MSMEs. He further said the Battery Operated & High End Cycles Industry will be set up in Punjab and it will be an opportunity for Small Manufacturers to become their suppliers.
