CT Varsity holds interactive session on ‘know your rights’
Ludhiana, November 1, 2019: CT University (CTU) under the Centre for Women Empowerment and Leadership (CWELD) organised an interactive session on ‘Know Your Rights’. The speaker for the day was Avni Bhatia from ITC Vivel. Avni is a mover, social enthusiast, and passionate believer of human rights and animal rights, strives to do her bit to bring change and create a more aware and compassionate society for all. The session was based on basic human rights awareness amongst the young students. The speaker for the day elaborated that we all are unaware of our inherited strength. The society is holding us all back. We must know about our rights, act and share the basic human rights with others. Avni further added, “The need is not just to safeguard women but also men. If we talk about a man harassing woman that matter becomes sensitive, whereas, if we imagine a man being harassed by a woman, we make fun and let it go.” She even added daily life examples with her stated notion. The speaker also shared stories and real life examples that involved fighting for human rights. Sukhminder Singh Grewal, Director Students Affair, said, “Youngsters need to know their basic rights as they are the ones who can fight for society as a whole. They are smart, intelligent and fighters. Also, undoubtedly the matters related to female are important to address but we must equally fight for harassment against men. This workshop highlighted to the core of human rights”
