CT University along with Punjabi Sahit Akademi launches Sewa Sankalp Society
Ludhiana, September 30, 2019: With the support of CT University, Ramgarhia Education Trust and Punjabi Sahit Akademi, a society named ‘Sewa Sankalp Society’ with eminent people from various walks of life has recently been established on the auspicious occasion of 550th Birth Anniversary of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji. The President of the society is a famous writer and poet Padmashri Dr Surjit Patar and Vice President Harpreet Sandhu, former Additional Advocate General, Punjab while the eminent litterateur and Registrar of CT University Dr Jagtar Dhiman is General Secretary. Ranjodh Singh is the Treasurer and Avtar Singh Dhindsa and Kanwaldeep Singh Nilibar are Joint Secretaries. Prof Harjeshwar Pal Singh is the Press Secretary of the Society. Besides this, CTU Chancellor Charanjit Singh Channi, Mahinderpal Singh Sehgal, Bhavdeep Sardana, Navneet Jairath, Dhiraj Sardana, Kamaljit Hayer, Kuljit Singh Hayer, Amardeep Singh Samra, Ranbir Tut and Prof Jaswinder Singh, are among the prominent persons actively associated with the Sewa Sankalp Society as Honorary Members. Launching the Society and its Logo, Dr Surjit Patar said that the zeal and divine enthusiasm with which the Society has been started with the participation of dedicated people, will certainly produce results. He added that we are lucky to have a chance to serve the humanitarian cause on this occasion of the 550th Prakash Purab of Sri Guru Nanak Dev. Giving details about the society, CTU Registrar Dr Jagtar Dhiman said, “The basic aim of the commemorative Society is to spread message of righteous living, community service in terms of providing healthcare, creating awareness about environment and water conservation, help to the needy, varied acts of charity, etc. as ordained by the Guru.” Harpreet Sandhu, Vice President said that the Society has planned and undertaken various programmes such as trees and flower plantation around Sultanpur Lodhi, providing volunteers to help the large number of visitors to the celebrations. Manbir Singh, Managing Director of CT University, further added that, the Group is conducting several activities dedicated to the occasion, such as Sukhmani Sahib Path by 550 students and faculty; turban tying where students and staff wore saffron turbans and a massive plantation drive where saplings were planted. Holding guest lectures and women empowerment poetic sessions have also been planned.
