CT students experience making of jaggery

Jalandhar, January 15, 2018: Gaining the practical exposure of the classroom learning, a group of students of CT Institute of Hotel Management and Catering Technology (CTIHMCT) were exposed to the traditions of Punjab by seeing the demonstration the process of making Jaggery (Gur) at a manufacturing plant near village Kathar.
The students were overwhelmed with the kind exposure and they did step by step procedure of making jaggery themselves and were happy to learn the Indian traditions. Expressing the same, one of the international students named Eugene Kapato, first year student said, “It was so wonderful experience to see and learn the making of Jaggery. Before this, I just ate this but now I have also learned the procedure of making it as well which is quite fascinating.”
Students also shot a documentary on the manufacturing process of Jaggery on the actual site where jaggery is actually being made made. CTIHMCT Chefs also demonstrated the students about the culinary usage of Jaggery by making Alsi ki pinni, til ladoo, gur ka halwa and gur ki roti.
Dr. Bharat Kapoor, Director, CTIHM said that such visits are quite beneficial for the students in gaining practical experience of making various things on the actual spot.
S. Charanjit S Channi, Chairman, CT Group appreciated the efforts of department in giving practical knowledge to its students along with theoretical knowledge.
