As many as 25 teams from various schools of Jalandhar, Phagwara and Hoshiarpur participated
Jalandhar, December 3, 2016: It was a joyous moment for CT Group of Institutions that the cricket team of CT Public School lifted the Champions trophy of Sahodaya Inter School Cricket Tournament. This tournament was organized by Sahodaya Independent Schools under the aegis of Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) where the winning team got the privilege to host the tournament. Last year as well, CT Public School won the tournament for that the school had got the opportunity to host the tournament this year as well in their premises of CT Group of Institutions, Shahpur Campus. The team of Cambridge School, Phagwara was the runners-up of the tournament.
In the final match, CT Public School played the final match against Cambridge School, Phagwara where the host school’s team won the toss and choose to bat first. The team scored 177 runs in which Rishabh Saini scored 66 runs, Karan Rajput 42 runs and Azam Nagar & Manthan scored 20 runs each. While Karan Rajput took 3 wickets, Lovepreet Bhullar took 3 and Jashneev took 2 wickets.
On the Opponent team’s end, the whole team scored only 56 runs. In which Keshav played well for the team as he scored the highest 10 runs also took 3 wickets. Besides, Azhar scored 10 and Piyush scored 8 runs for the team.
Around 25 teams hailing from Jalandhar, Kapurthala, Hoshiarpur and Phagwara participated in the tournament including DIPS, Dayanand Model School, Police DAV Public School and others participated. The quarter final matches had 15 overs while the semi finals and final matches were played with 20 overs.
The winning teams were honoured by the Chief Guest S. Charanjit Singh Channi (Chairman, CT Group of Institutions), Mr. Harpreet Singh (Vice Chairman, CT Group of Institutions) and Dr. P.S. Bedi (Campus Director, CT Group of Institutions). While presenting the prizes to the winners, S. Charanjit Singh Channi (Chairman) congratulated them and applauded the dedication of the coaches & their teams for their excellent performance. Mr. Harpreet Singh (Vice Chairman, CT Group of Institutions) urged all the students to participate in sports for their overall growth and personality development.
