Weaker Rupee leads to higher price in rupee terms
New Delhi, July 9, 2013: The international crude oil price of Indian Basket as computed/published today by Petroleum Planning and Analysis Cell (PPAC) under the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas increased sharply to US$ 104.52/per barrel (bbl) on July 8 this year.
This was higher than the price of US$ 103.53/bbl prevailing on the previous trading day of July 5, 2013.
The crude oil price in rupee terms also recorded sharp increase reaching Rs 6380.95/bbl on July 8, 2013 as compared to Rs 6247.00/bbl on July 5, 2013. This was due to continued surge in price in dollar terms and further rupee depreciation. Rupee-dollar exchange rate on July 8, 2013 at Rs 61.05/US$ against Rs 60.34/US$ on previous trading day of July 5, 2013.
