New Delhi: Famous Criminal Psychologist Mrs.Anuja Kapur was appointed as the Honorary Special Police Officer for Delhi Police after the hard work which she is doing from a decade. It is the first time since 2010 that Delhi Police appointed an SPO, Mrs.Kapur is the first person to become the SPO after 6 years.
Speaking on the achievement, Mrs.Kapur said, it is the reward of the hard work which I have been putting in for the betterment of the society. I have worked really hard to make this city a better place to live had put many efforts to make this city crime free but also I have been working days and nights to make this city safe and secure by giving the counselling to the victims, accused so that they cannot commit the crime again and laid the foundation for others to not commit any crime. It will be my honour to work for the Delhi Police and along with the Delhi Police to make city safer and secure than ever before so that people specially girls who can live safely even in the late night. Being a criminal psychologist I can better understand the situation of the crime and the reason of the crime so it will be a challenge as well for me to prove my selection as great work comes with great responsibility so it is the time when me along with Delhi Police can work for a safer city".
An SPO is appointed by the Delhi Police whom they consider to be fit for a Special Police Officer to assist the Delhi Police on any occasion. Procedure for appointment of special police officer is given in the rule 31 of the Delhi Police (Appointment and Recruitment) rules, 1980. An SPO (Special Police Officer) have the same powers, privileges and immunities and perform the same duties and be subject to the authorities as an ordinary police officer.
