CRIME: 4 booked under Indian Forest Act

Ferozepur, December 23, 2012: The Sadar Police Station have booked four persons, in an attempt to encroach upon government land situated in Langeana village in the district.

According to Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Sanjeev Tiwari,  the accused have been identified as Kabul Singh, Kashmir Singh, Surjeet Singh and Rajbir Singh of village Sabuana
Madan Lal, IO in this case informed that when forest officials led by Range Officer Rashpal Singh went to their village to inquire about the intrusion, they were allegedly manhandled and threatened with dire consequences.
IO further said, the case has been registered under sections 447, 427, 34 of IPC and 32, 33 of Indian Forest Act 1927 and no arrest has so far been made in this case.
According to sources, out of  around 10,000 hectares of forestland in Ferozepur division, 1,000 acres is already under illegal occupation.
