Ferozeur, October 29, 2012: For check-up of cancer patients, treatment to the needy persons, Punjab Police in association of Roko Cancer Charitable Trust, would start awareness campaign in whole of the Punjab and organise medical camps, said Paramraj Singh Umranangal, DIG, Border Range, Ferozepur while inaugurating the cancer, blood pressure, sugar and general check-up camp organised at Gensis Institute of Dental Sciences, Ferozepur in association with Shaheed Anil Baghi Hospital, Ferozepur.

Parmraj Singh Umranangal said, it is a matter of concern that the number of cancer patients in  Punjab are increasing day by day and the purpose organizing these camps is to create awareness about cancer disease and its treatment.  He appreciated the initiate taken for arranging the awareness and treatment camps by the Roaming Ambassador Kulwant Singh Dhaliwal of Roko Cancer, a  UK  based voluntary organization.

In his address, Kulwant Singh Dhaliwal of Roko Cancer Institution said, the Malwa belt of Punjab is too much affected with cancer disease.  He appreciated the financial help of Rs.1.50 lakhs being given by the Punjab Government for treatment, to the cancer patients.  He further said, the reasons for increase of cancer patients in  Punjab  are ignorance, non-availability of treatment facility and sacrificing the simplicity in life.

Dhaliwal also said, there are more than 48,000 cancer patients in a developed country like  England  but in that country the death rate due to cancer is less because in the developed countries, the cancer treatment is started at the first stage.  He said, the breast and uterus cancer is found in women.  He advised the people to adopt the simple food and simple living and keep away from the life of exhibitor. 

He said, the cancer has increase in the whole of the world at the rate of 22% and the causes are also blood pressure and diabetic. The treatment of cancer is possible, if it is detected at the initial stage. The people of  Punjab  need clean water, pure environment, simple food and right medicines. 

The Roko Cancer Trust has the distinction of organizing 1337 camps and check up about 2.75 lakhs patients and this campaign has been started in 16 States of India and about 6000 cancer patients of initiate stage have been detected, who are getting a successful.  So far, 60 per cent area of Punjab has been covered and in the coming three years, the whole of  Punjab  will be covered for cancer check-up.

By the end of April, 2013, 500 bedded Cancer Hospital will be opened at Moga by Roko Cancer Charitable Trust where the needy persons will be given treatment, Dhaliwal added.

On this occasion, Dr. Kamal Baghi, chairman  Genesis   Dental   College , Dr. Amarjit Singh Gill, principal, P. Bhanot, Dir. Brig., Dr. Dharminder Dhillon, Lakhbir Singh, SP(H) also addressed Roko Awareness Camp.

At the camp, Jagjit Singh Saroya, SP, Bahadur Singh , SP, Jabsir Singh, DSP besides in good number of local citizens were present.

In this check-up camp, 1700 patients were checked up besides memography test of 110, PAP test of 43, ECG of 70 and diabetic test of 1700 patients were done and 20 cancer patients were given free medicines.
